Standard Pacific Homes, Three Oaks Residential Development, Walnut, CA

JMA provided full time archaeological and paleontological resource monitoring at the Three Oaks development, required by the City of Walnut. The Three Oaks project is a large single family housing community located in the San Jose Hills in the City of Walnut, CA. JMA performed archival research, pre-construction archaeological and paleontological intensive survey, archaeological and paleontological mitigation and monitoring. This project required the moving of 18 million yards of material. Field staff identified a number of fossil localities, and collected fossil resources uncovered during excavation. Fossils collected include: terrestrial plants, marine algae, fish, and mollusks from the Puente Formation. Laboratory staff prepared and curated the fossil collection, and conducted the identification and analysis.
